Maxwell HillMaxwell Hill (Bukit Larut) is Malaysia’s oldest and smallest hill resort. Located in the state of Perak, near Taiping, Maxwell Hill (1035m) is unspoilt, cool, natural and beautiful. Temperature hovers around 15°C – 25°C, with nights sometimes dipping to 10°C. Located in the wettest part of the country, Maxwell Hill receives a lot of rain and mist hangs heavily for most parts of the day. Maxwell Hill is named after George Maxwell, a British resident of Perak who sought a hill station to escape from the heat of the lowlands, a hundred years ago. Tourist amenities are basic, and the only road, a narrow steep 13km tarred path with 72 breathtaking hairpin bends is accessible only through the government Land Rover. [Read more]
