Putrajaya is Malaysia’s futuristic city named after the nation’s first Prime Minister, the late Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj. The 4,581-hectare garden city with intelligent features is the new administrative capital and a Federal Territory. It comprises Government Precinct, Mixed Development Precinct, Civic and Cultural Precinct, Commercial Precinct and Sports & Recreational Precinct.

It is located at the hub of Asia’s fastest growing markets, Malaysia’s Multimedia Super Corridor, a bold initiative for companies developing or using leading multimedia developers. Lying 25km south of Kuala Lumpur, the nation’s capital, and 20km north from the KL International Airport in Sepang (KLIA), Putrajaya has multiple entry and exit points and is the most accessible city in Malaysia.

Dominating the city is the green-domed Prime Minister’s office and Masjid Putra, a pink mosque ‘floating’ on Putrajaya Lake. Within its vicinity lies lakes and wetlands that encourages recreational activities, fishing and water sports. West of Putrajaya lies Cyberjaya, Malaysia’s premier intelligent city with its multimedia industries, R&D centres, a Multimedia University and operational headquarters for multinationals using multimedia technology.

Also in the neighbourhood is Paya Indah Wetland Sanctuary, a 3,100-hectare wetland sanctuary which comprises lakes, peat swamp and lowland forests and is home to more than 142 species of birds, 40 species of fish, 25 species of mammals and reptiles, 220 species of aquatic and terrestrial plants.

Nature-based activities such as fishing, bird watching, nature tours, jungle trekking, camping, biking, horse riding, canoeing, boating or picnic are offered.
