Genting Highlands

Genting Highlands, located at an elevation of 2000m above sea level, is one of the most well developed hill resorts in Malaysia. The cool mountain air and lush greenery make Genting an ideal escapade away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Visitors can take a `shrilling cable car ride above the clouds to the summits and enjoy the indoor and outdoor theme parks or try your luck at the world class Casino De Genting. Genting Highlands, 54km north of Kuala Lumpur, was founded in 1965 by businessman, Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong, who acquired the land for the resort development. Set at 2000 metres, the main action is at the Genting Highlands Resort termed as ‘the City of Entertainment’. It offers an exciting range of activities that are glitzy and entertaining. The comprehensive hill resort is popular with day trippers and visitors seeking to excite their senses in a realm of fantasy right round the clock. The resort has a wide range of entertainment, leisure, recreational and sporting facilities as well as hotels, condominiums, apartment and camping facilities. At the peak lies Genting Theme Park and Casino De Genting while lower down, at around 1000 metres above sea level, is the Golf Course, Awana Horse Ranch and the Awana Eco Park.

Genting Theme Park

The Genting Theme Park is made up of Indoors Theme Park and the Outdoor Theme Park. The Indoors Theme Park offers attractions such as Space Odyssey 2020, Motion Master Simulator, 3-D dome and Around the World Train Ride. The Outdoor Theme Park offers attractions like Roller Coaster rides, train rides, The Flying Dragon and runaway mine train. You can take the Cable Car to survey the hills from atop on the cable car which travels from 914m to 1,768m above sea level.

Eco-sports

On the lower level of the mountain range is the Awana Eco Park. It offers jungle trekking, abseiling, mountain biking trails, golfing, horse-riding as well as recreational facilities.

The tenting Highlands offers a choice of restaurants, from plush restaurant to cosy food courts.

After Dusk

Evenings brings out the best in entertainment at Genting Highlands Resort with high energy performances in Arena of Stars, a permanent concert, and international shows at Genting International Showroom. There are also video arcades, one-armed bandits, cinemas, karoake lounges, discotheques and other entertainment centres. Genting is also well-known for its casino, the Casino de Gentinq, which offers Blackjack, baccarat, roulette, keno, French bull and Tai Sai. Visitors must be properly attired. The place is forbidden to Muslim visitors.
