Kinabatangan River
The lower Kinabatangan River is associated with the peculiar shaped nose proboscis monkey, a funny looking creature with pot-bellies and pendulous noses. It is also abundant with birdlife such as hornbills, egrets, storm storks, oriental darters and eagles. The area is rich with other forms of primates including macaque, leaf monkeys and orang utans. If you are interested in experiencing local community life as well as in conservation programmes, book into the Sabah Homestay Programme.
